The Men's Four Miler Training Program will begin Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 8 a.m. at the UVA Track / Lannigan Field.
Please note, registering for the training program DOES NOT automatically register you to run the race. Race registration is separate. There are NO REFUNDS.
WHAT: The Men’s Four Miler Training Program (M4MTP) is 10 week professionally supervised and coached program designed to help guide men to a healthier lifestyle and a new level of fitness. The short-term goal is the successful completion of the Charlottesville Men's Four Miler foot race; however, the long-term goal is to encourage men to take up regular exercise as part of an overall healthy lifestyle. There will be short weekly talks on proper running, various health issues facing men, and professionally coached training runs appropriate to all levels of fitness.
WHEN: The Training Program will meet as a group every Saturday at the Charlottesville High School Track from April 13 - June 8, 2013 at 8 a.m.
The race will be held Sunday, June 16, 2013.
WHO MAY PARTICIPATE: Any male may join in, especially those who are very out of shape or have NEVER exercised. Last year 100 males participated ranging in age from 12-72. The novice group starts with 2 laps of a walk/run on the track and eventually works up to four miles of running! By the time the program is completed the participant’s paces range from 20 minutes/mile to 8 minutes (or less)/mile.
COACH: Mark Lorenzoni has served as volunteer coach since the program started in 2004. He is assisted by a team of seasoned “Captains” who will oversee much of the training.
COST: $15 for Non-Members ($10 for CTC members)
I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by all decisions of the race officials relative to my ability to complete the run safely. I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and humidity, tricky footing in general, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf waive and release Charlottesville Track Club, the City of Charlottesville, The University of Virginia, The Department of Urology at UVA, The Charlottesville Men’s Four Miler, all sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event. I understand and agree that my name and all event pictures authorized by the Charlottesville Men’s Four Miler may be published in newsprint, brochures and/or electronically. In consideration of the safety of all participants, I understand that absolutely no baby joggers, baby strollers, headphones, animals on or off a leash (except service animals) or skippy materials are allowed on the course. In addition, I understand that if the race is cancelled for any reason, my entry fee will not be refunded.
