Moonlight for Meningitis
The two mile walk/run began in 2007, and was held through 2013 at Monticello High School track, where Jennifer attended school. All of the proceeds went to the Children?s Hospital and Research Institute in Oakland, California, where Dr. Greg Moe is leading an innovative research team in developing a B-Group meningitis vaccination. http://next.upi.com/archive/2010/11/10/Transforming-Tragedy-into-Hope/3931289424868/
At The Races
May 7, 2011
Saturday evening, Cindy Payne and her four sisters hosted the fourth running of The Jennifer Wells Moonlight Two Miler around the track at Monticello High. Close to 200 folks weathered a rainy evening to participate in the walk/run for Meningitis research. Dave Meyers successfully defended his title with a 10:32 clocking and Leah Conner was the first woman to complete the eight laps as she stopped the clock at 13:33. Other races of note were turned in by folks like Suzanna Turyani, Dan Moriarity, Justin Pincham and Karen Durland-Jones. Payne annually organizes this family benefit race in memory of her daughter Jennifer.
